Moment end plate thickness design no longer stops with a calculation error when the beam shear exceeds the compression bolts' shear strength.
Bolt bearing is sized on its own, and bolt shear is checked separately.
Also in this version:
- Slip-critical bolts: the per-bolt limit on bearing strength is the bolt's bearing-type shear strength, not its slip resistance
- For a single plate gusset to a column, the distance from the last bolt to the free edge of the gusset is measured with the plate where it ends up after sizing
- For a clip angle gusset to a column, the gusset thickness for block shear is sized after the clip angles are designed, so the gusset is not made thicker than needed
- In the clip angle integrity check, each candidate angle size is checked with its own thickness
- For double single plates, the buckling strength of one plate is compared with its share of the shear, V / n
- Whitmore section yielding in compression is compared with the compression force
- Column flange bending: when the bolt tension strength is less than the force per bolt before prying (Beta < 0), the check is reported NG, with the number of bolt rows needed
- Opening a file reads member shapes from the shape database of that file's own AISC edition, not the edition of the file opened before it. A file that uses a shape the previous edition did not list no longer fails to open
- For double angle braces, gusset size, Whitmore width, bolt gages, and edge distances all use the back-to-back leg, under every AISC edition
- For bolted angle braces, the Whitmore width adds the spread between bolt lines only when there is more than one line, and single angles use the gage of the leg on the gusset
- Block shear of the gusset at bolted angle and WT braces deducts the holes on both shear planes from the net shear area. For angles, the tension plane is the spread between bolt lines
- A brace with incomplete geometry no longer stops the rest of the drawing from being drawn, and printing a drawing with an empty front view no longer fails
