Released DESCON BRACE 6.1 WITH AISC SEISMIC PROVISIONS 341-05

DESCON 6.0
DesconWin and Descon Brace have been updated implementing the new and revised requirements brought about by AISC 360-05 Specification. Metric versions of DesconWin and Descon Brace included in Descon 6.0 now have the same features as the U.S. Customary unit versions.


  • Implemented AISC 360-05 Specification in DesconWin and Descon Brace.
  • ASD versions of DesconWin and Descon Brace now use the same design procedures and limit state checks as the LRFD versions.
  • Developed metric versions of DesconWin and Descon Brace, both ASD and LRFD.
  • Implemented XML file format in Descon Software Interface for two-way geometric data exchange with other software.
  • Implemented moment connections at/near top of columns for weak axis connections as well as connections to HSS columns.

  • Implemented Software Integration Interface in ASD and LRFD versions of both DesconWin and Descon Brace
    • Other software, with a compatible interface, can run Descon and transfer pertinent connection design input data to Descon for one or multiple connections.
    • Descon processes all the data it receives and designs the connections automatically in a batch mode.
    • Descon writes output files for each connection which the other software can read for further processing as desired.
    • Integrated Descon also runs in "Standalone" mode.
